The JPPC stands for the Joint Professional Practices Committee. It is a collaborative, peer-to-peer review group formed by local chapters of the California Land Surveyors’ Association (CLSA) and the American Council of Engineering Companies (ACEC)
The JPPC focuses on resolving localized disputes and reviewing surveys for regulatory and professional compliance. Their core roles include:
- Standard of Practice: Assists in defining and maintaining ethical standards and local best practices.
- Complaint Mediation: Reviews and comments on complaints regarding alleged violations of surveying laws to help find resolutions faster than formal state boards.
- Dispute Resolution: Acts as an intermediary between local government agencies, the public, and private land surveyors to mediate technical and boundary disputes.
- Monument Preservation: Works with local agencies and surveyors to ensure critical survey monuments are perpetuated and protected during construction projects.
