A Message from the President

PRESIDENT’S LETTER

Hello everyone. As the 2024 Riverside / San Bernardino Chapter President I wanted to introduce myself to the membership.

I came to the area originally in 1978 as a Marine stationed at Camp Pendleton traveling in convoys to 29 Palms and back. I worked in the Survey Section where I learned about the profession. After I went off active duty I started going to local college survey classes and met some local licensed surveyors who occasionally needed a chainman and drafting help. Within a few years, I started working for a local company in Temecula where I eventually got my PLS in 1990. In 1997 started my own small business with my partner and wife of 43 years. Through those years I’ve Learned, worked, and continue both with and alongside many of you.

I began my membership in CLSA in the 90’s and my executive tenure because no one would volunteer at the end of 2020 for the following year treasurer since we were still in pandemic mode

We went from having one to 6 meetings last year and plan on 6 this year with a couple events planned. I hope to see you at.

As President my top priorities for this year are as follows:

Hold the Bill Young Memorial Golf Tournament

Increase membership by outreach

Create a LSIT review seminar for members

Please feel free to send us any and all suggestions or ideas of how we can improve the Chapter and offer the members a greater benefit.

Our next meeting will be on January 25^th at the Old Spaghetti Factory in Riverside at 3191 Mission Inn Avenue, Riverside, CA 92507.

The Discussion will be by Chapter Past-Presidents. The topic will be, “How did you get into Surveying? What has been your career path? We look forward to seeing you there.

Riverside / San Bernardino CLSA Chapter

The goals of the California Land Surveyors Association are to advance the sciences and technologies within the surveying profession, increase awareness of the surveying profession, promote cooperation between the public and private sectors, establish channels of communication with other organizations, advance the protection of public welfare relative to surveying and mapping issues, encourage ethical and professional behavior, monitor and shape national, state and local laws and regulations, foster educational opportunities and to honor persons for service to the public, the surveying profession, and the Association.
